Through intentional public art and activations, the district creates opportunities for connection, creativity, and community pride. These projects enhance the pedestrian experience, support local culture, and transform everyday streets and gathering places into destinations that reflect Midtown’s values — welcoming, vibrant, and rooted in shared experiences.
Streets and their sidewalks, the main public spaces of a city, are its most vital organs.

Midtown Welcomes ‘Light and Airy’
A New Public Art Installation at 10th and Walker Roundabout
Midtown is proud to announce that a new public artwork will be installed at the 10th and Walker roundabout. Light and Airy from Canadian creative group Heavy is a site-specific artwork designed for the roundabout that uses an illuminated pop art sculpture to pay homage to OKC hospitality, Oklahoma’s memorable sunsets, and the camaraderie felt when people come together around food.
At first glance, Light & Airy appears to be an oversized slice of layer cake — whimsical, unexpected, and designed to spark curiosity and smiles. But beneath its playful appearance is a deeper reflection on the neighborhood it calls home. The roundabout sits at the intersection of many daily experiences in Midtown: residents out for a walk, visitors exploring local restaurants and shops, healthcare workers caring for the community through long shifts, and patients and families experiencing the full spectrum of care, healing, resilience, and support nearby every day.
On-site construction began in early February 2026 and is expected to be completed by summer.

Midtown Mural Wall
Rotating murals bringing more public art to the district
The Midtown Mural Wall was created by the Midtown Association as a public expression of gratitude to the healthcare and essential workers who supported the city throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Located at NW 9th and Walker Ave, the rotating series of murals continues to explore themes of reemergence, resilience, adaptability, and hope, reflecting both the collective experience of the past and the optimism of moving forward.
The current mural on display is Beneath an Orange Sky by Carlos Barboza @barboza_art.
Previously featured artwork includes murals by Sergio Tank Ramirez & Dusty Gilpin, Rhiana Deck, and Chandler Domingos. Project sponsors have included Lingo Construction, Midtown Renaissance, and the Midtown Rotary Club.
